Overall, I thought Life of Pi was a amazing book. Everything about it from the way it was writen to the overall message that the book gave you at the end of it. I would easily give it 5/5. I very much enjoyed reding the book. This book taught me about life is that you can never predict life. Life has no guidelines, no rules, no book that you can study that will tell you how to live life. No one life is like another person's life. The only way to find out what your life will be like is to live it. You can't look into the future and find what mistakes you have made and fix them before they happened. The only way you can prepare is look at the past and make sure you dont repeat mistakes you have already made. Life also can suddenly change in a instant or in some cases the blink of a eye. Like in the book its about Pi who's whole family died in a shipwreck and was a castaway for years. He didn't know that was going to happen on that day, he didn't get time to say goodbye to any of his family. Not a word now imagine that one day having your life be glorious and good with not a care in the world. Now think, what is the most important thing to you? Your Family? Your Kids? Maybe a relationship your in? Now imagine whatever that thing is that is important to you is taken away one day with no warning, no signs that anything was going to happen. No goodbyes, no closure, not even a last word. A few months ago a close family friend went hunting one day. He had a heart attack and died in the woods alone. He left a wife and two little girls now try to imagine explaining that to them that there dad will never come home. Now imagine your Pi and you have to come to that closure by yourself all alone with no one to help you get through the morning. Pi truthfully never came to closure with the death of his family because he had to focus on surviving. Now I wondered while I was reading is facing closure always the best thing to do? Sometimes maybe its neccesary for you to distract yourself so you can carry on through life and prosper. I myself find it easier to just keep yourself busy and pretend nothing every happened because hey if you can't see it is it really there? I have also reconized the more you hold things in and bottle them up it eats you from the inside out and eventually you can only hold so much before you explode. How you deal with the pressure is up to you. I always wondered maybe Pi would show me how he dealt with keeping everything bottled up for the fact that he couldn't talk to anyone but he didn't I personally believe he dealt with it through prayer and faith. I mean when you believe in three different religions you have a lot of people to pray to. I personally think why pray to someone that won't change reality. People pray to try to change what life has already determined. I prayed for my Uncle to get better after he got cancer. He's now dead along with many other relatives of mine who I prayed for. I prayed for my girlfriends cancer to get better so she can have surgery to get it removed. I try to keep her optamistic but I know what's going to happen I know that one day I will wake up and she will be gone too. Pi though believed that this faith he gained was the thing that saved him but was it? Was it some stronger force that hasn't been seen or was it just the normal things of life like ocean currents and time that brought him to land? That is for you to chose not for me to decide. I believe there are many different messages readers can get out of this book but really isn't that was reading is? Interpreting what is the message to you rather that message is that you can make it through anything with determination or that faith will guide. Overall, this was a great book and I highly reccomend to everyone.
